My research areas include the following subjects;
Environmental History and Historical Biogeography
This is the research area I am most interested in. This includes studies of historical distribution, introductions and dispersal of plants and animals and their associations and relationships with humans. I pay special attention to human-elephant relationship during the history of Sri Lanka and plant and animal introductions to Sri Lanka.
History and Archaeology
I am also engaged in studies of history and archaeology, mostly related to the period since the 16th century and with special attention on the 19th and 20th centuries. Archaeological studies focus on selected areas as well as individual sites.
Environmental Studies and Climate Change
I am also interested in contemporary environment and climate change issues and studies related to the subject.
